What happens at the NAEYC Institute? What’s different about the 2008 Institute?
NAEYC’s National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development features interactive, thought-provoking, research-based, practical sessions—and other learning opportunities—that Institute participants agree is a reason to come back each year. In 2008 you will find:
An Opening Session (new time: Sunday, 8:30 am)—provides a focus and challenge for the 3½ days of sessions and other events that follow.
Daily featured sessions—addressing technology and early childhood education, presented by national leaders in the field.
Forums for information dissemination—1-hour sessions that address current issues, recent research reports, upcoming proposed legislation, and more!
Interactive sessions that are 2 or 4 hours in length—providing you time to engage in discussions with colleagues, reflect, and think about what you’ll take home for implementation.
Technology-use work sessions—opportunities to reflect on the sessions attended that day and share your thoughts with colleagues on the influence of the media on children, technology use in the classroom and family child care home, technology in teacher preparation and professional development programs, and technology use in program management.
“Reflection and Action Roundtables”—time at the end of the day to reflect on the day’s sessions, raise issues, and participate in roundtable discussions with leaders in the field.
Position statement work sessions—to provide input in the development/revision of several NAEYC position statements.
A “Spotlight Forum”—for networking and exchanging ideas with individuals and organizations showcasing effective approaches to professional development, high-quality programs, and new research.
Institute Exhibits and NAEYC Marketplace—featuring books, training materials, and other professional development resources.
