Local Teacher Featured on Cover of NAEYC’s Teaching Young Children
Magazine Features Best Practices for Teachers Who Educate Our Youngest Learners
(Tallahassee, Fla.)– Cathie Leland, a teacher at the Creative Pre-School in Tallahassee, has been recognized for her achievements as an early childhood educator by being featured on the cover of NAEYC’s Teaching Young Children (TYC).
“We are pleased to feature Cathie Leland on our cover,” said Derry Koralek, Editor-in-Chief of TYC. “She is a caring educator who is committed to the growth and development of the children she teaches.”
Leland is one of a series of excellent preschool educators chosen to be featured on the cover of TYC since the magazine’s debut in fall of 2007. TYC is distributed to nearly 30,000 readers nationwide. Each issue provides useful, research-based ideas that preschool teachers can use in their work with children and families. TYC is also available in Spanish as Tesoros Y Colores.
Pam Phelps, PhD, owner of Creative-Preschool, calls Leland “a wonderful teacher of young children” who is “much loved by families and children.”
Leland was inspired to become a teacher after witnessing the positive impact her Aunt Martha, an early childhood educator, had on the children she worked with. She describes her teaching style as fun and creative, and says she hopes to continue her education in the future so she can “better make a difference” in the lives of the children she cares for.
