Meghan L. Gowin
Meghan Gowin is a second-grade teacher at Uplift Ascend Primary in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as a third-year doctoral student studying curriculum and instruction with a specialization in early childhood education at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She received a MEd in early childhood education from Northwestern State University in 2014 and a BA in anthropology with a minor in African American studies from Howard University in 2006.
Her research interests include culturally relevant teaching practices in early childhood education, multicultural teacher education in rural college and university settings, the cultural competencies (awareness, knowledge, skills, beliefs, and attitudes) of early childhood preservice and in-service teachers, and anti-bias education for rural early childhood educators.
Meghan has worked in the field of early childhood education for 11 years in various roles: as a prekindergarten to second-grade teacher, a university field-based liaison, and most recently as a co- facilitator of NAEYC’s Diversity and Equity Education for Adults (DEEA) Interest Forum.
