NAEYC Welcomes Louisiana AEYC to the Affiliate Network
WASHINGTON, DC.- The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) welcomed the Louisiana Association for the Education of Young Children (LAAEYC), to its network of affiliates.
On Thursday, April 8 Louisiana AEYC officially joined NAEYC’s community, expanding the affiliate landscape to 52 nonprofit organizations across the United States. Each affiliate is dedicated to providing local member engagement opportunities, resources, conferences, professional development, and advocacy efforts for our shared members.
The formation of LAAEYC is the result of an innovative, new affiliation model between NAEYC and Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU serves as the nonprofit, umbrella organization for LAAEYC, providing the necessary resources, infrastructure and support which allows LAAEYC to focus on member services, programs, benefits and engagement to the Louisiana early childhood education community.
NAEYC and its affiliates share a core value in creating opportunities to widen our reach to early educators, to advance equity in early childhood, to enhance the influence our association has on shaping a national, state and local agenda for young children, and to equip a growing, and engaged membership with effective structures and processes for carrying out the work of our collective mission.
“The establishment of a NAEYC affiliate in Louisiana will serve to unite early childhood providers across the state and allow for greater networking opportunities, sharing of resources, and elevating the profession”, Cynthia DiCarlo, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Education Institute and Executive Director of the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool.
