Robyn Lopez Melton is the Coordinator of the Center on Early Learning at The Research Institute at Western Oregon University where she co-directs Spark, Oregon’s Quality Rating and Improvement System and the state coordination of Oregon’s Child Care Resource and Referral. Robyn currently serves as Chair-elect of the NAEYC Affiliate Advisory Council and as President of Oregon AEYC. She has been involved with NAEYC and ORAEYC for over a decade and has served many volunteer roles at the local, state, and national level.
Robyn is bilingual/biliterate and bicultural, and has spent much of her career working with immigrant families and Spanish-speaking child care providers. She started her career at a Child Care Resource and Referral agency where she worked with Spanish speaking family child care providers, moving them through licensing systems, providing training and on-site support and professional development advising. Following this work, she spent seven years in a nonprofit child abuse prevention agency working with at risk children and their families.
Robyn graduated Magna Cum Laude from OSU Cascades Campus with two BA degrees, Liberal Studies and International Studies and is currently pursuing her Master's in Science in Education Information Technology.
